NEW YORK BUTOH FESTIVAL 2005: PERFORMANCE

Based on a Japanese short story, this solo dance explores the journey from reality to surreal fantasy.

“From high above water falls on my head- this is not normal. Falling water -like a bolt from the blue. The body reacts quicker than the head. In the short moment it is only existence, then after will come the thought: now what? As a matter of fact – people cannot escape from their own body;people have to live with it. Water will come through their clothes, their skin, their flesh.The water is laughing, whispering, crying, howling- the water never lies.

Shall I wait or shake the body like a dog to dry out? During the thinking the water becomes fog and then concentrates to be the first drop of the new water. In this circulation appears my figure in a moment.”
