LEIMAY LUDUS Community Classes are back—now with a fresh rhythm, a growing teaching team, and a consistent weekly format to support your ongoing journey through embodiment and creative exploration.
After running in cycles on Mondays, we’re shifting to a more continuous structure: now happening every Tuesday evening. This new format invites participants to develop deeper relationships with the practices, the facilitators, and each other over time.
And there’s more: this season, LUDUS Community Classes will be led by LEIMAY Ensemble members Akane Little, Krystel Copper, and Masanori Asahara—three artists who have been actively preparing to hold this space and share their own evolving interpretations of the LUDUS practice. Their facilitation is lovingly guided and supported by LEIMAY Artistic Director Ximena Garnica and senior company member Andrea Jones.
What is LUDUS?
LEIMAY LUDUS is a living, breathing movement practice developed through years of research in performance, somatics, and transformation. It draws from Japanese butoh, Noguchi Taiso, Body Weather, experimental theater, and LEIMAY’s own body of performance work. The practice blends physical rigor with imaginative play, cultivating presence, adaptability, and deep listening.
In these classes, you might:
- Melt into water or ignite like fire,
- Explore invisible strings and forces,
- Expand your awareness of time, rhythm, and gravity,
- Morph into new forms through improvisation and guided imagery,
- Engage your voice, breath, and subtle shifts of energy.
This is a space where all bodies are welcome—no dance or movement experience is needed. Whether you’re an artist, an activist, a parent, a healer, or simply curious, LUDUS Community Classes offer you a place to move, feel, and explore in a supportive environment.
