The LEIMAY LUDUS Summer Intensive is a unique laboratory for embodied research and movement exploration envisioned by Artistic Director Ximena Garnica. Open to dancers, actors, performers, and movement enthusiasts, this immersive experience invites participants to deepen their physical awareness, refine their perception, and expand their expressive range through rigorous, instinctive, and imaginative practice.

This year’s intensive will center around LUDUS BECOMING and LUDUS WATER, two distinct yet interconnected pathways developed within LEIMAY’s training.

Guided by Ximena Garnica and joined by members of the LEIMAY Ensemble, participants will engage in improvisation and somatic inquiry to unlock personal movement vocabularies and explore the infinite expressive potential of the body.

LUDUS BECOMING draws from Butoh’s cultivation of transformation and the materiality of the body. Through imaginative prompts and shifting states of consciousness, movers will morph through textures, emotions, and states of being—becoming the mist, the wilt of a flower, or a tangled ball of hair.

LUDUS WATER, grounded in Noguchi Taiso, invites participants to condition a conductive body—attuning to gravity, weight, rhythm, and flow. Ensemble members will guide participants through meditative and fluid movement explorations that cultivate serenity, adaptability, and inner clarity.
