EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM 2012: LUDUS

LUDUS Technique is a thorough. yet not codified, training technique for dance and theater performers. LUDUS strengthens the body while generating fluidity and relaxation. It cultivates presence and prepares an alert and neutral body that is ready to be moved or to perform. Exercises create the opportunity to explore internal openness and energy flow, distinguish different approaches to originating energy, facilitate an
awareness of consciousness, and investigate possible relationships between body and voice. Manipulation of space, time, and body through the transformation of embodied images are key. LUDUS has distilled exercises from multiple butoh masters, theater directors, and performance artists. The technique trains performers whose work is rooted in the body, and furthers an understanding of the aesthetic distinctive to Ximena Garnica & LEIMAY’s work.
