“Silent Beat” (solo, work-in-progress) is an intimate meeting with one woman. Through the authenticity of speaking about personal trauma to removing the voice, the work is an exploration of taking and losing control, as well as our collective humanity in regard to witnessing injustice. Inspired both by Eimear McBride novels and personal experiences, the work oscillates between a documentary and a performance. Fiction and reality intersect and force the performer to get encapsulated in myriad personal obsessions and fears amid the structured movement sequences. Once the voice is cut off, the stage slowly becomes a silent debris of one life….
Silent Beat’s work-in-progress showing was presented at The Tank, a New York City home for emerging artists.
