The LEIMAY Ludus Teacher Training program is a vital step in the evolution of this embodied practice, ensuring its depth, adaptability, and continued expansion. Guided by artistic director Ximena Garnica and senior Ensemble member Andrea Jones, the program prepares new instructors to teach Ludus with integrity and nuance, blending movement research, physical conditioning, and interdisciplinary inquiry. Rooted in Butoh, Noguchi Taiso, and experimental theater and visual arts, Ludus fosters presence, transformation, and interconnection—principles that are now being transmitted through a growing network of educators.
As Ludus classes become part of the curricula at institutions like Harvard University, Sarah Lawrence College, and Marymount Manhattan College, LEIMAY Ensemble members, including Masanori Asahara, are taking on co-teaching roles, further embedding the methodology within academic settings. This training initiative is not only expanding Ludus beyond its home at CAVE but also deepening its impact, cultivating a new generation of movement practitioners committed to embodied knowledge, creative inquiry, and collective evolution.
Please note that the Ludus Teacher Training program is by invitation only and is open exclusively to Ensemble members who have been part of LEIMAY for over a year or those who have been invited to the training.
