Led by Carolina Oliveros and Camilo Rodríguez, Bulla en el Barrio embarks on a bold sonic journey that fuses the ancestral pulse of bullerengue with diasporic musical influences from the Caribbean and North Africa. Rooted in deep cultural memory and shaped by contemporary migrations, the project honors tradition while embracing transformation.

During their residency at CAVE, the ensemble will collaborate with guest master artists from these regions, weaving a rich tapestry of sound through collective experimentation and intercultural dialogue. This process will culminate in the creation of a new album—a living archive of innovation grounded in community and connection.

The residency is open to the public with a Master Class and Conversation on Thursday, July 3, inviting participants to engage directly with the rhythms, histories, and hybrid forms that inspire their music.

The experience will culminate in a public performance on Saturday, July 5, offering audiences an immersive encounter with this evolving project. Featuring original compositions and dynamic arrangements, the evening celebrates the power of artistic exchange and the enduring resonance of Afro-Colombian traditions in conversation with the global diaspora.
