Kinome - Tee's Eye

Atsushi Takenouchi

LEIMAY PRESENTING SERIES 2004: CONSPICUOUS SERIES

This improvisation is inspired from his performance in Yaku island in south Japan, where the 7,200 years old cedar tree is still alive with music by Hiroko Komiya.

A Tree’s eye. Numerous eyes on the tree’s body. A bud of tree. A node of tree. An antenna of tree.
A point, which connects with the external world. A tree is looking at us from these points. And we are looking at the tree with our two eyes. But it is not enough. We try to look at the tree with our ears, mouth, all the skin of our body.

“A man looks at a tree, then the tree looks at the man.”
–Poem by Sansei Yamao
