Enduring Freedom

Imre Thormann

LEIMAY PRESENTING SERIES 2009: AT HOME

like a tiger in the cage,

the search for freedom exhausted,

I let my self fall

the moment grasped me

outside a drop parts from a leave

the sound of its collision resonates

Stones fall from my heart….

Imre Thormann was born in Bern in 1966. He studied different martial arts, like Aikido, Kung fu, Tai Chi and Taekwon Do  after an unsuccessful punk band career. After completing his education in the F.M. Alexander technique in 1990, he moved to Tokyo and lived there for 13 years. During those years he took lessons from Butoh co-founder Kazuo Ohno, and from Michizou Noguchi. Since 1993 he has put on several Butoh solo performances in Europe as well as in Japan.
