Combining the LEIMAY Ensemble’s signature physicality, layered over vivid visual landscapes, Frantic Beauty engulfs audiences in a minimalistic yet immersive environment juxtaposing trembling and harmonious images to reflect on society’s pursuit of and relationship to beauty. This work sets visceral vocalizations and scattered soliloquies against the contrasting original score by Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards). Frantic Beauty is part of the BECOMING pentalogy, a series dealing with matter’s constant state of becoming through growth and decay, beginnings and endings. Five performers interact with projections in this 75 minute performance work.
