I Swallow your Silences is a dance offered to a garden. It germinates from haikus and their poetry of listening, their contemplative relation to the surrounding. It is a performance created specifically for the Dorothy Strelsin Memorial Community Garden; nonetheless, it holds several other shrines of silences within the cities in its memory. Silences as other sounds. Sound as another silence. The relation of movement and sound will also happen between the dance of Cora Laszlo and the music of Wendy Eisenberg, an improvising musician who will play live music. Since both artists are deeply committed to improvisation, the performance will incorporate this porous and responsive state into the creation.
The dance asks where Earth can still rest in a silent—yet resonating—space. It is an invitation for people to see and feel the dance as they see and feel the coming and going of their being in the garden.
